Seminal research started in 1954 by Dr. Forrest M. Bird leading to the creation of the Bird Mark Series (Green Box), first completely pneumatically powered respirator. Clinically important follow-up devices include the Baby Bird ventilator, Bird MicroBlender, 6400ST and 8400STi. The V.I.P. Bird Gold neonatal ventilator remains the gold standard in conventional neonate ventilators. The TBird Series ventilator represented a quantum leap forward in self contained critical care devices, released in 1996 and spurring the development of additional new technologies.
